AB-Vuylsteke is shaping the coastline with the Heldentoren project in Knokke-Heist

While AB is still working full out on the construction of ‘De Branding’ in Cadzand and ‘La Rive’ in Knokke-Heist by order of Compagnie het Zoute, the next prestigious coastal project ‘Heldentoren’ is already beckoning.

Work on this 70 metre-tall architectural gem started in October as a joint venture with Vuylsteke-Eiffage (50-50), in a deal worth €26 million. With its 20 floors it will be one of the tallest buildings on the Belgian coast.

Knokke-Heist’s future business card was designed by order of Salt nv by the famous Belgian/Dutch office Neutelings Riedijk Architects, that formerly took charge of the design of the MAS in Antwerp. Boydens Engineering is responsible for the technical facilities.

The Heldentoren is part of the general ambition to give the approach to the seaside resort a new aura. Accordingly, the Heldenplein and the Vissershuldeplein will be remodelled, and the Elizabetlaan is being transformed to become a lovely boulevard. One thing is already for sure: the coast is increasingly being coloured Eiffage red.
