Campus Vesta

About this project

For years, the training centres for firefighters and paramedics were located on an old military base in Emblem (Ranst). New standards and requirements made it necessary to build a new 13.000 m² centre, and in February 2010, Antwerpse Bouwwerken was awarded the contract to build the campus.

The campus consists of a 5-storey main building clad in Cor-Ten steel.

The Province of Antwerp emergency services have at their disposal a gym, a shooting range, and classrooms for teaching and practical exercises.

Designed for sustainability, the building ensures the optimal use of energy through its good insulation and airtightness. The company has installed such energy efficiency technologies as energy storage in the ground via a heat pump, solar panels for producing hot water and PV panels for generating electricity. Work started in March 2010 and was completed in August 2011.
